Yes. If it isn't a system drive, then it is plug and play compatible (SATA or IDE adapter, of course). New versions of Windows can readjust(repair) itself to new hardware more often than not, so even that is usually possible, not that I would be that ham fisted about a system change myself. Always start fresh while you are at it. It's work, but nothing done right is easy.

file extensions should be enabled but locked by default, or with the changing of extensions linked to UAC. A computer with issues may not need a drive wipe and may sometimes be saved via a windows 11 or 10 reset, selecting the option to 'keep my files' (using an sd card with a windows iso written to it). With earlier windows systems a reset may wipe everything, so tread with caution). Or you could just connect the drive to another pc to save documents

Clones are often a good solution but aren't always possible with failed drives depending on the severity of the failure. As a tech most of my clones were replacing working HDDs with SSDs or migrating from an older PC to another. A solid 30-40% were from failing/failed HDDs to new drives, but these weren't always successful and could take ages. I did actually have a ddrescue clone take 28 days once, new hard drive booted up with Windows like nothing ever happened lol. Any weird ones you've come across?

i disagree, more ram is way better depending on your activites as i do a lot of 3d rendering and some gaming , i went full out with my pc using 4 4tb nvme and 128ddr4 with a ryzen 5950x which plays all AAA games with a 7900xtx with no issues in cooling or multitasking.

Very recently I upgraded my pc components, did an update on windows, restarted then I got locked out of my pc because I couldn't login using microsoft account no matter what even when I entered my password correctly it rejected it and said it is wrong. I even reset my password and still rejected it! I had to boot into recovery menu and do a complete reset of windows.

When setting up my computer it didn't give me a choice to set up a local account... There was no 'skip' or 'do this later', or 'next' button, so you had to create a microsoft account... but when I purchased the computer I don't recall seeing anywhere about the pc forcing the user to accept onedrive... When I tried to unlink my pc, I got errors... giving the impression it can't function without Onedrive... I don't feel they were up front about what they were asking of me, or telling me...

Very technical here and all that, but just haven't followed gear too much in recent years. I see stuff here and there and haven't been under a rock though. Very quickly: If I wanted to build new system and only concerned with MOBO, MEMORY and CPU, 32 GB total DDRx at least, what do I start looking at for best bang of buck. No other considerations necessary. I got all that. Just want to know what YOU all would say. As a basic guide to question: Not looking for very high or very low end. 2 years old or so is ok and probably preferred.

So basically what I’m hearing is this computer is meant for working which is totally fine but my grandmother works at the state attorney place. I am 16. I’m not sure if this is the exact right computer. The one she’s looking at is a 21.5 inch display but for some reason it’s not $500. It’s 1000. But she’s looking to put $200 into raffle tickets dollar a raffle tickets hopefully I win lol. What I would be using this computer for to hook up to my speakers and play music And play PCVR if you know what that is I’m pretty sure it said that the rising 5000 series 7 was in this computer and I looked it up and it said that should be fine for playing PCVR thank you for the video❤

Great video. I had an issue opening the "HBCD_PE_x64.iso" file, which downloads in a ZIP format, and when I extract the file, it converts into a bunch of folders and files and not the iso file to proceed any further. Please help. Thank you

Disks are write protected so that didn't work. No option to reset so that didn't work.

You actually absolutely can use bitlocker without a Microsoft account, just choose to print the key instead of saving it to your Microsoft account t during bitlocker setup. All my drives are encrypted with bitlocker using xts-aes-256 encryption (which can be configured with local group policy editor: gpedit.msc. And I am not logged in or even have a Microsoft account on my computer. Also during bitlocker setup it literally tells you your recovery key and to print or save it because you may loose access to your data without it. So it’s kind of whoever’s fault who skipped reading the simple instructions.

I plan to change my old laptop mechanical HDD 500gB to a 250g SSD. In my old laptop i partitioned to 2 partition being C and D Drive. I intend to just copy just the C partition to the SSD. Thks

I hate partitions. I’ve had to start over because the Windows partition ran out of space. And if the Windows partition fails on a hard drive, what good is the rest of it?

I have an Acer Aspire laptop I run Win 10 on. It has an SSD drive. But, I wanted to try Linux Zorin OS, so I got the Ventoy USB with Zorin burned on it. Booting from that USB, the installation process started. I chose the option to install Zorin which erased my disk however, the Zorin installation nearly completed and then stopped without warning. I tried to reboot three times with no success, so I reinstalled Win10. But I don't understand why it did this. It just does not like Linux but prefers Windows.

My son said he u plugged his computer ( instead of turning it off) then this happened when he turned it back on…. Any suggestions
